Abstrac: Hansen’s disease (leprosy) is an ancient infection that remains a significant health impairment in susceptible populations is still endemic in several countries, such as Brazil, India, Colombia.(1) The long-term vision of the World Health Organization is to eradicate leprosy by 2030. The strategy of controlling leprosy still must be reinforced with new diagnostic tools in combination with improved therapeutic regimens.(2) Moreover, the risk of drug resistance remains a latent threat; thus, cautious surveillance is necessary for preventing the spread of drug-resistant strains.(3) Innovative therapies have been proposed as strategies to combat infection antibiotic resistance by targeting pivotal bacterial processes, such as adhesion, cell wall permeability, quorum sensing, virulence regulons, toxin production.(4) In mycobacteria, this approach has been explored only in Mycobacterium tuberculosis Mycobacterium marinum, the approach targeted the PhoPR regulon, SapM, ESX-1 secretion system.(4,5,6) promising candidates are in the preclinical stages are being tested in animal models.
